Twenty One Pilots Takeover Tour in Boston

By: Rickelle Hunt

Twenty One Pilots stop by Boston MA for a week long dance party. Playing at venues of all sizes ranging from a capacity of 900 to over 19,000 at the final arena show. Twenty One Pilots fans have remained devoted and faithful to the duo consisting of members Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun for years on end. The atmosphere created between the band and the Clique is immensely loving, you can see the admiration for the band behind the eyes of every fan alongside the barricade down to the back of the room. Hundreds of these loyal passion driven fans waited in line for days sleeping on the cold city streets out of pure dedication and love for this band. After a small intimate performance at the Paradise Rock Club the previous night, Starting the second night of the Takeover Boston Tour at the House of Blues was an amazing way to kick off the week filled with shows! You can really see how much effort is done behind the scenes, making you really appreciate every detail put into this tour. The band never fails to put on an exceptional performance taking their live production to whole new lengths. Kicking off the set with songs from the latest album Scaled and Icy, fans treated new songs with as much appreciation and excitement as previous songs from past albums Burryface, Trench, and Vessel. The band includes every element into making the perfect live show experience from confetti canons and backflips to a cozy campfire acoustic set. Playing covers of timeless classic songs such as, Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. The duo is constantly keeping things new and fresh while also including a touch of nostalgia for the ones who have been around since the beginning.

Night 3 of the Boston Takeover Tour at the Agganis Arena was nothing less than sensational perfection. Fans who weren’t already lined up outside the venue multiple days in advance, were coming straight from the House of Blues show that previous night to hold their place in line. The commitment from the Clique fan base is unlike any other I have ever seen, fans treat each other as one big family. Opening the stage for the night was Jay Joseph on his first ever tour making for a monumental milestone in his upcoming career. His songs Gundabad and Ghost Dance immediately had me hooked, I have had on repeat since! Next up opening for the night was the talented group Half Alive consisting of interpretive dance moves, partner lifts and graffiti artwork. Both thoroughly impressed me as well as the audience, the crowd was jumping off their feet from the start of the show all the way leading up to the highly anticipated Twenty One Pilots. It was such a cool dynamic to see the band play at two different sized venues, making each show have its own unique twist with also including different entrances to start each set. The latest album Scaled and Icy has been taking off since it’s release. The band has included multiple new songs from the album to the setlist like

Formidable and No Chances, the fans never fail to astonish me by reciting every word of the lyrics to even the newer songs. The duo kept a wide variety of songs from all eras on the setlist like, Chlorine, Tear In My Heart, and Migraine, keeping the crowd engaged and looking forward for everything to follow. Closing the show was the emotional track Trees, as the duo stands on top of a platform held up by the roaring crowd of fans. Emotions fill the room as it begins raining confetti having the night come to an end. This is a tour you don’t want to miss catch all the info on an upcoming date near you here.
