Cold War Kids + Overcoats
By: Nicole Juliette Hetlyn
Overcoats and Cold War Kids gave Nashville a night of genuine music that we desperately needed. After going to so many punk-rock shows lately, it was nice to take a step back and watch artists slow things down, sing songs completely stripped down, and just focus on being in the moment. Overcoats started out the show, and I was blown away by their entire set. Their harmonies were chilling and their chemistry was undeniable. Vocalists Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell complimented each other so well on the stage. Their choreographed moves, playfullness, and overall radiance had us captivated. Their sophomore album, The Fight, will be released March 6th and you can listen to their single “Fire & Fury” now!
Cold War Kids is such an incredible band. They mix soul, rock, and blues with such a distinct sound. This was a unique set, since guitarist David Quon was out of the show (taking care of his sick daughter). Sara [Overcoats] filled in on guitar (and crushed it), also leading to a stripped down strings set. Nevertheless, the set was still just as magical. Nathan Willett has such a unique bluesy voice and had the crowd mesmerized. Cold War Kids’ latest song, “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now,” is available now, and we can’t wait to hear more from them!
There are only two dates of tour left! Try to catch a show if you are nearby!
