Young the Giant & Milky Chance 2023 Summer Tour

By Rickelle Hunt

The phenomenally stunning alternative indie rock bands Young the Giant and Milky Chance collaborate to form the most elite tour of the summer. The Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston is one of the best outdoor venues in this city, they truly could not have chosen a better location for this show right on the calm breezy ocean water with a rose-colored sunset in the sky. The line was quite long forming all the way down the street as fans eagerly packed the entire amphitheater beaming with enthusiasm and good vibrations.

Opening the show was the German duo Milky Chance consisting of Clemens Rehbein (vocalist & guitarist), and Phillip Dausch (percussionist & bassist), also accompanied by their talented band members, Antonio Greger and Sebastian Schmidt. The group has released a new electric dance album titled Living In A Haze on June 9th being the day of this show. They incorporated many new songs to their setlist including the hit single “Synchronize” as well as “Colorado” and the title track “Living In A Haze”. The audience was highly engaged dancing and singing their hearts out under kaleidoscopic neon lights. Front man Clemens knows how to work a stage strutting from one end to another beaming with confidence. The well rounded musicians made sure to play the timeless hit songs that are always fan favorites such as, “Stolen Dance”, “Flashed Junk Mind”, and “Down by the River” off the highly successful 2014 debut album Sadnecessary. The sound engineer as well as the light tech certainly deserve recognition for helping put on a flawless performance making the stage glow with vibrant colors and highlighting the bands unique sound and vocals.

Up next is the highly anticipated headlining act Young the Giant consisting of the 5 members Sameer Gadhia (vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Francois Comtois (drums), Eric Cannata (guitar), and Payam Doostzadeh (bass). The band put on a beautifully stunning performance as always definitely making this my favorite show of the year so far. It was extremely wholesome to see fans of all ages ranging from young to old gathered together over the love and admiration we all share towards their music.

Front-man Sameer Gadhia has a distinct voice that is one of a kind, and by far one of the most talented vocalists in the entire music industry today. They played some their iconic and ageless hit songs such as, “Mind Over Matter”, “Cough Syrup”, “Something To Believe In”, “Superposition”, and “Silver Tongue”. The band has received high praise over their latest fifth studio album American Bollywood released this past November. It features the extremely successful hit single “The Walk Home” that is poetically a breath of fresh air capturing what it’s like to loose and find one’s self and accepting a newfound solace. They included other new songs like, “Dollar $tore” as well as title track “American Bollywood”. The authentic and charismatic band capture the attention of everyone with the energy they give in their live performances. With beautiful outfit changes and glittering gold jewelry it compliments perfectly with the flawless sound and light production. This is a show you don’t want to miss this summer.
