Amon Amarth

By: Mary Welch

This week I was able to see Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth both for the first time. All I could think about while Arch Enemy was on stage is how amazing Alissa White-Gluz is! It’s quite rare I see a woman on stage or even alongside me in the photo pit, and I found the way she captivated everyone’s attention, her distinct outfit/hair, her impressive vocal range, and all the things that make her who she is amazed me. At the end of some songs, I even saw security cheering and clapping for the band, which is when you know they’re that good.

I actually had not heard of Amon Amarth, but their stage design and music had me interested right away. The one word that came to mind before they even came on stage was “vikings.” After doing a bit of research, I think I’m a new fan of this death metal band with the viking elements they add. They’ve got a ton of European tour dates until December, so check out a show if you can!
