Warped Wednesday, VOL. 2

by: Taryn Poe

The lineup for this year's Vans Warped Tour is considerably more heavy and geared towards metal fans than last year's dominantly pop punk roster.  As an avid metal head I have no complaints, but have no fear pop punk/emo kids, you still have Neck Deep and Hawthorne Heights to scream your lungs out to, as well as a lot of new up and coming bands such as Creeper and Movements.  Getting back to the metal/rock lineup, two bands I am looking forward to seeing this summer are Bad Omens and Emmure.  I have watched both bands previously on tours headlined by Attila (Let's Get Abducted Tour & Chaos Tour) and ironically enough, Attila is also on the warped lineup as mentioned in Volume 1 of our #WarpedWednesday series.

Bad Omens is playing on the Full Sail University Stage from July 4th through July 24th.  This is the band's first year on the tour, and I have high hopes they will deliver a top notch performance to their fans and reel in new fans during the 20 days they are on the tour.  When I saw them play in March, their sound was very gung-ho and worthy of letting my hair down and throwing my head in a circle.  I can't wait to see how the crowd reacts to them this summer, and I expect lots of head-banging and a gnarly circle pit!  The band is signed to Sumerian Records, and their self-titled debut album Bad Omens is out now.  Don't forget to catch their set at warped if they're playing your stop!

Signed to SharpTone Records, Emmure released a new album Look At Yourself back in March, which we just reviewed and can't get enough of, and you can catch them on the Mutant South Stage on warped at every single date!  Vocalist Frankie Palmeri's screams are insane, and his vocals sound wicked on the new record. Definitely check it out before heading to Warped, and if you dig it join the Emmure cult.  Seriously, they are a cult, just look at their website domain emmurecult.com.  I anticipate their crowd to be intense and brutal as heck, be prepared for the pit to get savage, or should I say savvage!  Emmure is no stranger to Warped, having played back in 2009 & 2010, and we are thrilled they are back on the lineup and can't wait to see what they bring to the table this summer!
