Lindsay Latimer
by: Nicole Juliette Hetlyn
Nashville singer-songwriter, Lindsay Latimer, held her album release earlier this week at the Five Spot. Lindsay’s sophomore EP, Teenage Lullaby, is officially out today. After having this EP on repeat several times, I can promise you that you need to hear it. It is hard to explain Lindsay’s sound, since she truly is original and has such a captivating voice. I would say that she is a blend of a brighter Lorde, with a subdue Tori Kelly. Teenage Lullaby is also an honest, nostalgic album. The songs reminisce growing up, relationships, and other relatable topics.
The album release show was quite a magical night. Lindsay took the stage and graciously thanked everyone for being there, as well as everyone who made the album possible. Lindsay’s full band also accompanied her (keyboard, violin, bass, vocal harmonies, etc.), and everything sounded so smooth and authentic. I had goosebumps when they played the final song - all sitting in a semi-circle with their instruments. There is something incredible about genuine, raw talent and an artist who wears their heart on their sleeve. The room was decorated with balloons and familiar faces, but if that wasn’t cool enough, let’s talk about Lindsay’s shoes. I know this sounds crazy, but they were light up shoes that she pressed a button on and they changed colors every song! Such a small detail, but it added to the fun of the night!
Lindsay played through her EP, Teenage Lullaby. Hearing these songs live for the first time was an incredible feeling. I was immediately a fan of the EP, and picked up a copy as soon as the show was over. I thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed the show, as well as talking to Lindsay.
