Coast Modern - The Way It Was
by: Mary Welch
Something I’ve had firsthand experience with this summer is seeing the indie pop genres flourish, solely due to awesome artists like Coast Modern dropping albums. If you have a music taste “that spans from introspective acoustic streams of consciousness to psychedelic jams to relaxed dancehall vibes,” you’re going to love their vivacious sound like we do. Their debut / self-titled album was released a month ago, and it’s been getting a lot of love so far. It contains eighteen tracks, though a few of them have some electro pysch vibes packed into less than a minute. Their sound can be compared to the alternative electro vibes like BØRNS, Cage the Elephant, and Arctic Monkeys. My favourite song is “The Way It Was” because of its chord progression, its catchiness, and how it makes me want to get up and dance.
This LA pair is comprised of Coleman Trapp and Luke Atlas, and they are embracing creativity in their own way. Hear their new songs live on their month-long tour starting the first week of September. You can win tickets to this tour exclusively through Savvage Media (find out how on our Facebook page). Their new album can be purchased on iTunes or streamed on Spotify/Soundcloud HERE.
