Joywave & Joe P: The Cleanse Tour 2022

By Rickelle Hunt

Joywave joined by Joe P stop by Boston at the Paradise Rock Club for the 2022 Cleanse Tour. There has been high praise and much buzz around the New Jersey based artist Joe P. Over the last year he has been a force to reckon with by taking a leap of faith into his newfound successful solo career. He has a unique and authentic style that truly makes him stand out, his talent shines through being his own songwriter and producer with most music being recorded in his basement. He has sparked the attention of many Tiktok users having over 5 million likes, his success is well earned and ever growing daily. His setlist included the hit song “Baby Teeth (feat. Mothica)” that was originally released in 2018 by his former band Deal Casino and re-recorded in 2019 making for a talented collaboration between the artists. He also played the highly admired hit song “Off My Mind” reaching over 10+ million Spotify streams. As well as other fan favorites like, “Fighting in a Car”, “Leaves” and one of my personal favorites “Crown Vic (Black Cloud)”. His debut album Emily Can’t Sing (2021) has been one of the most impressive projects I have came across, with a sharp production and catchy lyrics that pull you into the story behind them. Joe P will be joining Spacey Jane this autumn on tour, don’t miss the chance to see this rising star. Find tickets to a city near you here:  https://joepthehyena.com/showsfull

Taking the stage next was the highly anticipated indie rock band Joywave. The trio consisting of Daniel Armbruster (vocals), Paul Brenner (drums), and Joseph Morinelli (guitarist) were dearly missed in this city after the hiatus covid caused. Their last stop in Boston was back in 2019 joined by Bastille on the Dooms Day Tour. Fans have been craving a Joywave show by the adored Rochester band. The stage was quite literally its very own car wash with an actual car prop on stage and soapy visual aesthetics. As the Cleanse Tour comes to a wrap this was another successful chapter in Joywave’s career. I myself have been a fan of the band for 8 years now, seeing old and new fans join together for this milestone was truly a special proud moment. The band never fails to put on a show stopping performance while wearing matching gas station esque jumpsuits. The live production, strong vocals, and hypnotizing light show Joywave put on is unmatched. Their latest album released earlier this year titled Cleanse (2022), is another phenomenal and groundbreaking album created by the band. The setlist included new songs like, “We Are All We Need” and “Every Window Is A Mirror”. While not failing to forget the nostalgic old classics like “True Gift” off Koda Vista (2012), and fan favorite “Destruction” off of How Do You Feel Now? (2015). The band also performed the crowd-pleasing hit song “Dangerous” that was finally added to the live set after many years. Joywave is hands down one of the best bands to see perform live, I have nothing but uttermost respect for the group by keeping their sense of humor and humbleness throughout the years of their prosperous career. Stream Joywave’s latest album Cleanse on all platforms now, and keep up to date with future show announcements in a city near you!
