Happiness Continues…

“It’s great to know these songs have been the soundtrack to someone's life.” - Joe Jonas

I have been a fan of the Jonas Brothers since I could remember. I used to buy their CDs the day they were released and listen to them non-stop. Even to this day I have days where I listen to nothing but the Jonas Brothers collection to take me back to some of my best memories. In a way I feel like I grew up with them. So when Joe said that line, I knew this “Concert Documentary” was more than just watching the show all over again..

The entire hour and 44 minutes of Happiness Continues was dedicated to the fans that have been there and supported all three brothers through thick and thin. It was about sticking to their roots as a family to come back together as a band to do what they love together for the people they love.

It was a continuation of Chasing Happiness and how the journey is continuing and they truly are in a good place as brothers, best friends, and a band. They talk about each brother’s individual role in the band, and how they’re able to do that and come together to be on the same page where as before, each brother took on the role of doing it themselves and leaving someone out. They even showed this with their pre-show rituals of how truly different they all really are and how no matter what, it just works.

One of my favorite features in the movie personally was Joe talking about “Hesitate” and how much it means to him and his wife, Sophie Turner. Joe mentioned how it was his Vows before his Vows and every time he sings the song he sees her walking down the aisle all over again. To me, it showed how much more personal and raw the brothers are being this time around. They’re truly tapping into each brother's emotions and writing from what they all know.

Most importantly this movie was a thank you to the fans. It showed how much we as fans truly had an effect on them and they’re coming back. In the movie they showed a “Club Show” idea that Joe Jonas had to give back to the fans and get back to their roots and play songs that the people who were there from the beginning would know. Nick and Kevin also mentioned how they weren’t sure if there was still a taste for new music as the brothers. That’s when Nick mentioned how our tweets as fans is how they knew they could always come back. The fans are the reason for the impact the comeback has had on them, and the music industry as a whole. To really show how much they pay attention to fans' feedback, at the end of the documentary Nick said something that not gonna lie, made me cry more than I should ever admit. “We’re kind of their boys in a way, we own that, we love that, just wanna make 'em’ proud.” If anything should stick in someone's mind after watching the film, it’s that one line.

What is more amazing than that, is now they chose to promote the Amazon Prime movie, and give back to the fans. I personally was lucky enough to be apart of this and I can’t be anymore excited to talk about.

The day before the movie was released a tweet was sent out to text the brothers Zoom meeting IDs and they’ll be crashing. Immediately one of my friends took the lead and made the group and brought everyone together. We immediately started texting and tweeting the ID that night with little expectations that they would show up. 8pm rolled around all my friends signed on and we had a couple pranksters that we got let down and lost basically the little hope we did have for any of the actual brothers to show up. But, it didn't stop us from having a fun time.

Not too long later we got a request from “JoBro’s team” to join. We all thought it was going to be another prank and it was someone getting our hopes up once again. We had nothing else to lose so we accepted and it was actually someone with Amazon. They asked us to let her record and mentioned that there was someone special that wanted to say hello to us.

Instantly we were speculating if it was real or not and if it was going to be a single brother, or all three and how we would react.

Not too long after, Alena Jonas popped up on the screen and said the cutest hello you could ever imagine. Kevin slid in not too long after with his hellos. With doing Savvage Media and concert photography and growing up in the music world, I’ve met a decent amount of artists but I’ve never been this in shock of how could this be happening to me?

Alena completely stole the show in most of the zoom calls she was in and she was the star of ours as well. We asked her what her favorite song of her dad’s was and she said, “Dance in the Living Room.” If you’re not a huge Jonas fan, that's, “Only Human.” Us being the crazy group we are, asked her if she knew how to do the dance and drop it low. Her and my friend Steph both decided to do it on camera for a laugh from everyone. She also mentioned that she’s loving having her dad as a teacher during all of this. Even though we asked Kevin how math was going and he laughed and said, “not well, but they have counters!”

Other things were also talked about like the new song, “X,” that is featured at the end of the movie, being safe during this crazy pandemic, and literally some of the best small talk. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with Kevin and Alena. Personally, I'm just forever thankful I was apart of this experience with this group of friends that we have something to bond over forever with one of our favorite artists.  I’ve met a lot of different singers, bands, and even sports athletes during my time in the entertainment industry, and this by far felt the most personable and the most genuine.

Because of this crazy experience, a couple news articles have reached out to my friends and such to get our take on the experience so it’s also really cool being able to experience that as well.

So, thank you Jonas Brothers for a great documentary during this crazy pandemic to uplift spirits, for finding your way back to one another, finding your way back to your fans, and being three of the most genuine human beings.

After I wrote all this and almost hit send to get it posted, the Jonas Brothers went and added to the chaos. They posted on their socials of a recap of it all! And not only that, they went and liked and commented back to me!  (HERE).
